My Summer Break Camping Trip

My Summer Break Camping Trip

By: Makayla Jordan

I remember when daddy asked, " Would you like to go Camping"?  I shouted out "Yes"  Then, I asked him if our doggy Zeus, could go. Daddy said I don't know, maybe not this trip. I knew what I had to do, I teamed up with my older sister. This was easy, we just both looked at him, with our adorable "puppy eyes" and he said ah, ok. "Cool", I knew this was going to be a great camping trip!

I am also happy we decided to go to Mt. Charleston, instead of Lake mead. (Summers get pretty hot in Las Vegas, and the mountains would be cooler than the lake.) Before too long we had packed all of our camping gear and were off to the mountains. Woo Hoo. I really love camping. On the way to the hiking trail, there was these beautiful log cabins, I also saw a school and asked why is there a school way out here? My sister said it was for the children that live on the mountain. I thought, it is pretty cool out here, I kinda wished I lived on the mountain. Then I remembered there are a lot of bugs on the mountain, and  I was like, oh, nevermind.

Our hiking, was harder than we expected and decided to just go find a campsite instead. It seemed like we were driving all over the mountain, and I was like, just find one already. The mountain roads are a little scary to me, and I didn't want us to tip over, cause some of those cliffs were a lllloooooonnnnngggg way down. Finally we found a spot.

When we walking down to pay for our site, I asked, where is the bathroom? My dad pointed to this small building, and said right there, I said that's no bathroom, that's a flycatcher. My dad and my sister both cracked up! I was in a great mood and kept coming up with those sayings all night long. We had such a blast!

When we returned to camp, it was my job to pick up like 50 sticks for the fire, while Dad and Sissy setup the tent. Then one of our camping neighbors came over and asked us, We saw CampingMemories.com in your back window, What's that? My Dad trying to sound all cool, said, it's our website blah, blah, blah. Did I mention they had a daughter that was about my age? She said Hi, and I said Hi back. We were so busy, I didn't get the chance to play with her. Actually, maybe next time, I won't be so shy.

Well, that's many of my memories for this fun camping trip.

Will you share some of yours?  When you do, I'll ask my daddy to post it here too!

Bye for now - Makayla
